OLRFC Rugby4Heroes Music and Rugby Festival recognised in style at TouchFM Pride of Warwick District awards.

Old Leamingtonians RFC and its charity fundraising efforts through its annual Rugby4Heroes Music and Rugby Festival were recognised in style at Friday night’s Touch FM Pride of Warwick District awards.

1404750895_9917The awards, sponsored by TouchFM in partnership win Phillips 66, are an annual celebration of business, civic and community activity in the districts of Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth. The OLRFC Festival team, who have been running the Rugby4Heroes festival for 6 years, were awarded the prestigious Team of the Year Award in recognition of outstanding team work and volunteering activity, which has helped raise over £44,000 for Armed Forces charities. The OLRFC festival team were also nominated as finalists for the overall Pride of Warwick District Community Award.

Speaking on behalf of the OLRFC Festival team, Mike Vallance said; “We are delighted to achieve this superb recognition of our volunteering efforts and we thank TouchFM , Phillips 66 and the public for their support. We started Rugby4Heroes 6 years ago through our desire to ‘do our bit’ for our servicemen and women and their families, and are very proud to have made a difference to our community. We dedicate this award to our serving men and women, our veterans and the families of the 453 who have made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan”
