We were delighted to read that the makers of a new British war film, Kajaki, chronicling the story of men of the Parachute Regiment serving at the Kajaki Dam in Afghanistan in 2006, have exceeded their Indiegogo crowd funding site target. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/kajaki-a-modern-british-war-film

£47,197 has been raised towards production costs against a target of £40,000 – an awesome result!

The film is due to be finished and release some time in late 2014. It tells the story of men from a company of the Parachute Regiment, and Corporal Mark Wright, who was posthumously awarded a George Cross for his bravery during a medical extraction of his team from a minefield.

The film is supporting Help for Heroes, the Royal British Legion, the Afghanistan Trust www.afghanistantrust.org, Walking with the Wounded, and the Mark Wright Project www.themarkwrightproject.org.uk

Congrats to the Kajaki team, Mark’s former comrades, Mark’s Mum and Dad, and the military charities, for all their hard work in making this project happen.

Very best of luck from all of us at OLRFC Rugby4Heroes. We hope the project is a great success and raises much needed funding for the causes supporting, in a year when British forces are due to reduce their presence further in Afghanistan.
